Why Share This Dementia Caregiving Journey?
The short answer is because the four- to eight-year dementia and Alzheimer’s caregiving journey after diagnosis really requires a plan. Each person’s caregiving journey with a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia (aka neurodegenerative disease) is very personal. I’m sharing my caregiving journey so that others currently on theirs or about to embark on theirs can benefit from our experiences, mistakes, and lessons.
This website augments my caregiver guidebook It’s Not That Simple: Helping Families Navigate the Alzheimer’s Journey, a resource full of tips, tools and experiences to help with the myriad decisions those supporting loved ones with dementia and Alzheimer’s encounter.
Most importantly, I offer family members answers to their caregiving questions and a customized plan based on the phases of their caregiving journey so they can prepare emotionally, physically, financially, and mentally for the changes ahead. In addition, I walk this journey with you through private, one-to-one conversations, text messages, and emails so you have the support you deserve.
